Social Media Data Visualization

Vision Critical, a Vancouver-based market research and consulting firm, partnered with SIM on a major investigation into social media usage. Together we developed a study that was deployed to more than 80,000 social media users in the US, Canada and the UK. Three classes of Communications Design and Interaction Design students then took the data and turned it into a range of exciting infographics, some of them interactive. An portion of the research was published in a Harvard Business Review post about Pinterest, accompanied by an infographic by Emily Carr student Cheryl Loh, and was widely shared online. The initial results of the larger study were presented at the MESH conference in Toronto, and Vision Critical continues to work with SIM to analyze and visualize its social media data.
